Blanca from Houston. I love MAC - but my lips lack normal color - this looked brown - so back it went - its described as a dirty rose but to me that would mean more pink than brown - thank you Ulta for making the return easy! Prettiest red on the market! Debi from North Carolina. Glides on nicely. Maribear8 from Utah. Today I have a review for MAC's Velvet Teddy lipstick. It is a matte warm, pinky nude with a brown undertone. I have been loving these pinky nude shades recently so much, and I've gone through a few lipsticks to get here, but I finally found it. There is nothing that's too cool toned about this lipstick, or particularly too pink about it. Jul 27, 2018 - Velvet Teddy is my all time favorite nudes to wear on the daily! Mac Velvet Teddy Review
Price: CAD 20.00
This took a roundabout route to me. A friend's husband gifted it to her (not knowing it would be too light for her skin tone), so she then passed it onto me (unused). So thoughtful of her.
The swatch is showing it a bit more brown than it really looks on my skin. The lip swatch below does more justice to the accuracy of the colour. Velvet Teddy is a pale rose with a hint of brown. Done properly, it can be a beautiful nude lipstick for somebody with my skin tone (NC40ish). I like it paired best with flawless skin and a simple or smokey eye. If you think it is looking a bit flat, a touch of gloss (my fave being NYX's Praline butter gloss) will do the trick to liven it up.

The drawback to this lipstick is that it is quite difficult to wear. One's lips have to be in pristine shape otherwise it makes them look awful and there needs to be enough colour in the cheeks to not look dead. However, overall it is quite a nice nudest of nude pinks for brown/tan/Indian skin tones.
This review was a mixed bag at best, I know, but long story short is that I like this lipstick depending on what makeup I'm wearing and how complementary it is to the rest of my look.
Hey everybody! I hope you guys are enjoying my reviews that I've been posting back to back recently. I just love how it looks on my NW25-30 skin.
I tried several lipsticks, but they always ended up looking too pink on my lips, and the contrast to my skin tone just didn't look right. But with the amount of brown and warm undertones this has, I think it compliments my skin and most other skin tones very nicely.
This is what the packaging looks like:
And the lipstick:
I really liked Kinda Sexy and Brave, which are very similar to this shade, but this shade completely blew me out of the water. It's a matte formulation, but it's not at all drying. I used a bit of lip balm underneath, I always love applying a clear coat of Fresh Sugar Lip Treatment underneath any lipstick or lip gloss because it automatically gives my lips a healthy and plump effect, and moisturizes them to perfection.
The lipstick wore for about 3 to 4 hours, and I'm sure it would've lasted longer, but I honestly can't stand even the thought of eating with anything on my lips. I always have to wipe it off beforehand because I know I would spend my entire meal just trying to make sure my lipstick doesn't transfer onto my burger or something. Am I alone in this? Hopefully not!
The one downside is it is very moisturizing, but it does transfer. I did a kiss test to the back of my hand, a napkin, and accidentally with my six month old's cheeks, and they transferred onto everything. I would rather it not transfer, but it doesn't bother me all too much because I simply adore this color.
One upside is I found that I don't even need to bother with a lip liner when using this lipstick. It just goes on so creamy and smooth, and I'm sure a lip liner may make it more precise, and help it to last longer, but honestly it applied perfectly without, so I didn't find the need to apply one.

Overall, I would give this a 100/5. I am in love with it, I think I finally found my perfect shade. If you've been hesitant in buying this, I would say just go for it! You won't regret it. It's such a universally flattering color, I am sure it would look amazing on just about anybody. At least go to a MAC store and swatch it. You will fall in love. 🙂
That's it for this review, thanks so much for tuning in, and I will catch you soon!
